Smiley IN HONOR OF MY 300TH POST! I searched the Forum, and I couldn't find anything on Mickey Mouse that was a BIG topic. At first, I planned on puttting this in the Actors, Directors, Composers, and Studiuos section, considering the fact that Mickey Mouse is one of the world's most famous actors for more than 80 years, but then I remebered there was a Disney section of the Forum! Anyway, Mickey was first seen in Plane Crazy and Steamboat Willie in 1928. Steamboat Willie was the first animated cartoon to have sychronized sound! After that, Mickey becomes as American as the bald eagle and the American flag!

Througout the years, Mickey has acheived many great things. In fact, this year he gets an "Epic" Wii game.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2cE9WGz03k" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2cE9WGz03k</a>

Please feel free to leave comments about what you love about Mickey, or your favorite cartoon. Anybody out there heard of Runaway Brain?

There aren't many characters who can achieve the revered status of "icon."  Mickey Mouse is one of those characters.  I've loved Mickey ever since I was a kid, and that won't change.  In some ways, he represents my childhood, and he serves as an everlasting reminder to me to never forget who I was as a child...and especially to never forget the power of imagination.

I have heard about Runaway Brain; I think there was a post somewhere on the forum about it.  I don't remember if I've actually seen it, though.

UPDATED – For any of you reading this and wondered if I posted any of this stuff before, let me answer by saying, yes. I decided to combine it all into a super comment! PLEASE COMMENT.

Angry Well trust me, it is the only Mickey Mouse that you MIGHT not want to see. I'm not saying it is terrible, I'm just saying ,"What the heck happened to Mickey!?"

Anyway, does anybody out there have a favorite Mickey Mouse moment?

Here is one of my favorite Mickey and Friends moments. Although, I'm surprised Donald didn't object to the name of the boat, Queen Minnie. I'd figured he would've called it the Queen Daisy!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoR0U9l_QGQ" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoR0U9l_QGQ</a>

Also, here is some other favorite Mickeys. There is the young apprentice of Nurus the wizard in the Italian comic strip Wizards of Mickey. BOOM Kids published it in English, and boy, do I love reading the adventure of Mickey and all his friends as Wizards! Of course, almost all of your favorite Mickey and Friends characters are in there. There's Donald and his pet dragon Fafnir, Goofy, only smarter than usual, there's Daisy and her cat, who can never seem to get along with Fafnir, there's even Clarabell and off course, Mickey's love interest and magical princess, Minnie Mouse. And, even the Phantom Blot is in it, just not the way he is usually drawn! For those of you that are a fan of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, this is the series for you!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnwLGwDtxs8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnwLGwDtxs8</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svG6r64_45Y" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svG6r64_45Y</a>

By the way, the second trailer is about the second adventures in the series, you can read more about it at: http://www.wizardsofmickey.com/index.html. You must either speak Italian or have Google translator to read the page. Do not worry, though, I plan on making a fan website based off the series... or at least, the parts I've read!

Anyway, speaking of the Phantom Blot, here is Epic Mickey:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvNcQhdBVGM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvNcQhdBVGM</a>

Here is another one of my favorite Mickey Mouse cartoons:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4saIC96vJRI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4saIC96vJRI</a>

Also, here is a quote frome Level_Head about Mickey. I hope you don't mind me posting this LH!

Quote
Yes.  Mickey is in a sense the only one on the forum older than I am.

I greatly enjoyed Fantasia, and was less excited about Fantasia 2000 when it came out.  We did see the latter in an IMAX theater (I enjoyed 3D theaters, and had two eyes back then.)

I enjoyed the "Boat Builders" video you posted.  It struck me that few children, and few adults, would catch some of the subtleties in it.  For example, when Mickey unrolls the instructions for the mast, there was a "DO NOT STAND ... WHILE" partially visible at the lower left.  It's on screen such a short time that people back in the early 20th century probably didn't have time to notice.  This was, of course, decades before home recordings were available; the only time you could see a cartoon was to go to the theater.

Smiley Here is something very interesting.

Regarding the poll: Fantasia is my favorite, easily.  The Sorcerer's Apprentice is just such a timeless milestone in animation, and I really believe it's Mickey's magnum opus.  Sorry, Kingdom Hearts.  Mickey was cool wielding a Keyblade in that and all, but to this day I am dazzled every time I watch the "apprentice of Yen Sid conducting the galaxy", as they say in my favorite Nightwish song, FantasMic.

Ah, I see we have an animation fanatic with us! It is also hard for me to pick, but my favorite Mickey cartoon of all time, personally, is Mickey's Trailer and anything with Minnie in it! I guess WALL-E turned me into an animated couple softie! As an animator, Sreamboat Willie, Fantasia, and even Runaway Brain are my favorites.

But please, do not be limited to the pole, tell us your #1 all time favorite Mickey Moment or any specail memories of Mickey!

I used to watch Mickey's Christmas Carol a lot as a kid (although Scrooge was of course the main character in that).  Probably one of my favorite things to see Mickey in nowadays is the Fantasmic show at Disneyland.  All these villains invade his dream and turn it into a nightmare...but he fights them all off with the power of imagination!  And who can forget the climactic scene with Mickey facing off against Maleficent's dragon form.  It's a show that brings tears to my eyes every time I see it.

Once again, here is a CK Mickey Mouse Supercomment, feel free to leave your own comments!

Yeah, that was the best part! I've never seen it at a Park, but I've seen it on YouTube. Although, I wouldn't watch it before you go to bed! Also, the dragon scene was used in my fvaorite book, The Kingdom Keepers!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPTQLv7L5dM" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPTQLv7L5dM</a>

Another thing I enjoy about Mickey is House of Mouse. I just love the idea of every single Disney cartoon hanging out in one place. Mickey would be in charge, Minnie would make sure he didn't screw anything up, Donald would greet people at the front door claiming it was his club, and Daisy would nag him out! And of course, Goofy would play the waiter with the penguins from Mary Poppins. Here is a video montage from YouTube all about Mickey:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz2VkfFJw5M" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz2VkfFJw5M</a>

Here is a very early Mickey, Donald and Goofy cartoon in Black and White and in color:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tG65SFGH6U" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tG65SFGH6U</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhwc1S9l61g" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhwc1S9l61g</a>
Also, since so many love this cartoon, I thought I'd upload the classic tale of Mickey vs the magic of the broomsticks in the Sorcerer's Apprentice. Also, since this reply involves comparisons, I thought I'd add the Mop Scene from the 2010 live action Disney film the Sorcerer's Apprentice.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Rfriax4DY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Rfriax4DY</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_mXhdPqMmI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_mXhdPqMmI</a>

Hey guys, try guessing what this Mickey cartoon is:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBgghnQF6E4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBgghnQF6E4</a>

PLEASE comment. Smiley

If you are wondering, yes, I did upload these alredy, but I saw that I was cluttering up the page, so I made this... the first ever UTLIMATE comment!

I found these on YouTube, and I thought to myself, "These are worth sharing."

Anyway, enjoy!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J2lUiCQGBg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J2lUiCQGBg</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDuZMOkbswg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDuZMOkbswg</a>

By the way, here is a fun fact: in WWII Americans came up with a codename for the battle of Normandy. What was the codename? Well, answer this... whose the leader of the club that's made for you and me? Also, here is another tribute about Mickey & Minnie's relationship, the second most romantic one I've ever seen! After WALL-E and EVE of course! Also, have you noticed that Mickey almost always brings Minnie flowers?

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lpPmQPMbw0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lpPmQPMbw0</a>

Of course, as we all know, Mickey's last BIG adventure before Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in The Three Musketeers. After that movie Mickey Mouse was overshadowed by the blond wigged pop star, Hannah Montana. Unfortunetly, Mickey hasn't gotten a real role since then. For now, all we can do is wait for someone at Disney to get an idea for Mickey's next heroic role. But then, again, SOMEONE on the Forum already has an idea...

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gGGQ5-sZjw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gGGQ5-sZjw</a>

To any of you that are interested in the Wizards of Mickey thing I mentioned earlier, here is some desktop wallpaper I found off of the officail Wizards of Mickey website at http://www.wizardsofmickey.com/extra/wallpaper/. Make this your desktop if you like Wizards of Mickey, or Mickey in general, and please DO NOT forget to comment on the post and vote on the pole!

And here is one from Dark Ages. You can tell it is dark by the way Mickey is scowling!

By the poll at the top I see we have a tie between Yes and I dunno. To affect the voting, here i another one of my favorite Mickey cartoons:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbJjTiM2xdc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbJjTiM2xdc</a>

Of course, everyone knows that probably one of Walt's most famous sayings is, "I hope we never loose site of one thing- that it was all started by a mouse!"

Well, we have lost sight of that. Latley, Mickey hasn't had a movie role in years! Thanks to a certain pop star and not to mention a certain boy band. But, we need to put on glasses and see once again what Mickey had started. If it weren't for Mickey, there would be no happy smiles. No reason to find love. There would be no happiness or joy! We would have never seen our favorite movies like Snow White, Toy Story, DINOSAUR, Sleeping Beauty, High School Musical, not even WALL-E would exsist! And, none of those guys I have mentioned earlier would have ever gotten into the musical industrie. Besides, the symbol of Disney is not a blond wig. Its mouse ears! We need to pull Mickey out of his dark, empty clubhouse and into the light and colorful world of movie screens once again! Mickey has been here since 1928, and he will be here even in the year 3000!

They say all good things come to an end! But Mickey isn't a good thing. He is a magical thing.

Now, to get a better grasp at what I mean, here is a tribute I found off of YouTube. Notice how the tribute starts with Mickey, then ends with Mickey!

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqdRlFEo324" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqdRlFEo324</a> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymFaLuAgrlg" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymFaLuAgrlg</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZfUFL4yBJ0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZfUFL4yBJ0</a>

I just realized, this post isn't just about Mickey Mouse. It is also about his friends, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald. So, here is Donald in his first ever cartoon:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoBF210i8rc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoBF210i8rc</a>

Please, once again, feel free to leave comments about what you love about Mickey, or the legacy he started. Also, please don't hold back on commenting on your favorite Mickey and Friends cartoon.

That's okay. Anyhow, who doesn't like Mickey's ears? Almost everybody who watched Mickey Mouse Club in the 50'S and 70's loves to wear them! Besides, Mickey would look weird without his ears! And his shorts, he would look incredibly weird if he didn't have his red shorts with the yellow buttons

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9DQnT1Awig" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9DQnT1Awig</a>

I found this off of YouTube, and I thought it was fairly good. Also, the song would probably be right. Mickey and Minnie's life would stink without each other.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8s1-mKw660" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8s1-mKw660</a>

Like I said earlier on the post, have you ever noticed that Mickey almost always brings flowers? If Mickey were to bring Minnie flowers all 365 days a year, and Mickey will be 82 this year, he would've brough Minnie 29,930 flowers!
Here is something everybody should consider: If it wasn't for Mickey, there would be no WALL-E. No WALL-E, No WALL-E Forum. So, just remeber that when reading this post. Also, when I say you can comment on Mickey and his friends, I mean Oswald too! If you don’t know who Oswald is, you should. He’s the reason Mickey exists today!

Oswald was Walt’s one and only toon star in the silent era of cartoons, before Mickey. But, Walt lost him in a contract dispute between Universal. Oswald won’t have another Disney role until this Holiday season in the new Wii game, Epic Mickey.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pV_g8DdZi0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pV_g8DdZi0</a>

Here is something very funny. A fan made trailer I found off of YouTube. It is Mickey Mouse in my second favorite film.

Here is some good news for Wii fans out there. In previous posts, I have mentioned a new Wii game coming out in November. It is called Epic Mickey, designed by gameing legend, Warren Spector. I, personally am really excited about the game, even though I do not have a Wii counsel. Anyway, here is a new Epic Mickey trailer, and a guide I made once for the Epic Mickey post created by Aly in Wonderland.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-MnhFSHTxU" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-MnhFSHTxU</a>

CLUB KID’s Epic Guide to Epic Mickey

Quote from Epic Mickey Wikia Page:
“A long time ago, the sorcerer Yen Sid created a pen and paper world for his forgotten characters, held in an intricate model on a table, and accessible through a mirror. Mickey, who fins himself inside Yen Sid’s studies, sees the model, and wait until Yen Sid leaves to take a closer look at the model. Fiddling with it, Mickey accidently spills paint thinner, twisting the world. He managed to escape without Yen Sid ever knowing he was there, returning to his world to live years of fame and success. But, his meddling had consequences, the thinner turned into the game’s main villain, the Phantom Blot. He invaded the paper and pen world and engages in the Blot Wars with the land’s ruler, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The Blot wins over the struggle, turning Oswald against Mickey, who is know jealous of his half brother’s success! Mickey gets plunged into the world by the Blot and now must save the day, earn Oswald’s trust again, and defeat the Blot!”

 Angry The Wasteland
            What is the Wasteland?
The Wasteland is a world made for the forgotten, rejected, and retired Disney characters. Before Mickey ruined it, it was a fun, happy place ruled by Oswald. You’ll hear about him later! But, Mickey isn’t retires, and it is almost impossible for anyone to forget him, so he has to find a way to escape! But, as he explores the Wasteland, he discovers that it is HIS fault that everything is so miserable and depressing!
That, and some of his old friends are down here, if he doesn’t fix this, they will be living horrible lives!

 Smiley Mickey and His POWERS
Well, everyone probably knows who Mickey Mouse is! Those who don’t know who he is, do NOT worry, medical help is on the way!
In the game, Mickey has one tool that can help him and the Wasteland…a giant magical paintbrush! With this, he can wield the power of paint and paint thinner! With paint, Mickey can draw in stuff that has been erased. With thinner, though, anything that is drawn in, he can just as easily erase! Now, depending on how you play, there are three types of Mickey:

*Hero Mickey: This Mickey is helpful, and uses paint more than thinner. This Mickey is very colorful and bares the yellow gloves of the 1930’s.

*Wastelander Mickey: Act like a helpful hero most of the time, and a mischievous Scrapper other times, and you will get a white gloved, white faces Wastelander Mickey!

*Scrapper Mickey: Most demos I’ve seen so far, players end up acting more mischievously than they should be! Scrapper Mickey ignores pleas for help and uses thinner way more than paint. Sure he’s powerful, and this mode does have advantages, but you won’t have many friends of allies! This Mickey is based of the creepy from the 1995 short film Runaway Brain.

How you help save the Wasteland affects how the story ends!

 Cheesy Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
Anyway, by now you probably want to know who the heck Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is, right? Well, before Mickey, Oswald was Walt’s one and only cartoon star from 1927-1928. But Walt lost the rights to Oswald to Charles Mintz. In fact, that is the only reason Mickey Mouse even exists!
Oswald was the first resident of the Wasteland, which in term, puts him in charge until the Blot dethrones him! Oswald then comes to detest Mickey, becoming jealous of his fame and fortune, thinking Mickey took everything that was supposed to be his! But he forgets that he has a good life, too. Unlike Mickey, he’s married and has bunny kids who love their Uncle Mickey to death! One of the important things for Mickey to accomplish is to convince Oswald to stop hating him and actually start helping him. Trust me; Oswald’s skill will be very helpful.

WALL-E Worry Things to Look Out For
As you probably predicted, Oswald, the Blot, and the Mad Doctor aren’t the only things you have to worry about down here in the Wasteland.
For example, Sputters are little creatures that aren’t very harmful, but can still pack a mean punch. Another good example are Beetleoworks, which pack a really powerful punch! They are made of old audio animatronic pieces and rejected Disney ideas or ride parts. These are extremely dangerous. Another thing to be weary of are Oswald’s kids. They love Mickey to death…
One last thing to look for, but nor fear, are animatronic versions of Mickey’s friends Donald and Goofy. Oswald had the Mad Doctor create them so they can act as friends for Oswald, who is also jealous of Mickey’s friends. But, some of their pieces are missing, and you have to find them! After all, they are friends!

Tricky Tip
A pirate in Adventureland is in love with a lactose intolerance cow and wants to try to get her something nice. Get the flowers, and she’ll be his! Get the ice cream, and WATCH OUT!

Please comment about what you think please!

In regards of Mickey and Minnie getting married, it is difficult to answer because it all depends on how it would work out cartoon-wise...  Or comic book-wise, for that matter.  Aren't there still Mickey Mouse comic books being made?

Anyway, not sure what to say about Mickey because he has such a long life and there have been so many changes to him, both in personality and appearance that it's hard to say anything about him without specifically referring to what generation we're talking about.

Still, cartoons featuring Mickey are quite funny, in that Disney sort of way.  ...But again, I have to be specific.  There's the silent era ones, the sound era ones, the color are ones, the slightly different color era ones, the "age of total irrelevancy", and the "age of Mickey making a badass comeback".
